Overview

A 600-minute (10 hours) holiday programme for Prep to Grade 6 students, themed around K-Pop and Demon Hunters, combining visual arts, dance, drama, and creative play guided by the Australian Curriculum (v9) for The Arts. The programme integrates dance choreography, movement, character design, imaginative play and media arts, fostering creativity, collaboration, and cultural awareness while meeting specific curriculum outcomes.

Detailed Activity Descriptions and Objectives

1. Dance Crew Training (100 min)

Objective: Develop coordination, rhythm, group synchronicity and confidence expressing K-Pop style high-energy dance.
Curriculum Focus: Movement skills, understanding beat, body awareness, group performance (AC9ADAFP01, AC9ADAFP01_E7).
Modification: Prep to Year 2 learn a 4-step routine; Years 3 to 6 learn an 8-step sequence. Use visual video modelling.
Assessment: Teacher observation of ability to stay in time and reproduce movements.

2. Demon Hunter Obstacle Course (90 min)

Objective: Improve gross motor skills, agility, spatial awareness, and teamwork through a themed obstacle quest.
Curriculum Focus: Safe movement exploration in Dance/PE, expression through physical activity (AC9ADAFP01_E4).
Modification: Younger students have simplified tasks; all encouraged but offered alternative easier options for physical limits.
Assessment: Participation and effort in safely completing the course.

3. Create Your Character (120 min)

Objective: Visual Arts and Drama integration where students design a demon hunter identity—powers, symbols, costume—and storytelling about their character.

Objective: Choreograph and perform safe ‘combat’ moves using foam sticks and glow sticks, enhancing timing, coordination, and expressive movement.

Modification: Foam sticks to reduce injury risk; smaller choreographic patterns for younger students.

5. K-Squad Photo Wall (90 min)

Objective: Create fun professional-style photos using props and poses to simulate album covers; document artwork and performance.

Modification: Younger children assisted in posing and handling props; older students help with photo captions or digital presentation.
