Lesson structure (60 minutes)

  1. 0–5 min · Retrieval hook. Teacher displays three prompt cards: “liveability feature”, “environmental management strategy”, “environmental change risk/adaptation”. Students do a quick silent jot of one example for each, then share one with a partner.

  2. 5–15 min · Model the design task. Teacher briefly restates the design challenge: each group creates a “liveable community plan” for an imagined suburb/block. Teacher demonstrates how to label a simple map/diagram and includes a mini “good critique” example sentence stem:

Each group selects one “tour guide” and one “scribe” (switch next round).
