Step 1: Group Formation (3 mins)
Divide class into five small groups (6 students per group). Rotate students so they have experience with different roles from previous lessons.

Step 2: Rhythm Creation (5 mins)
Each group works together to compose a 4-beat rhythm pattern using visual rhythm cards as scaffolds. Encourage them to repeat it 4 times for a short composition.

Step 3: Practise, Refine & Rehearse (5 mins)
Groups practise their rhythm loop, counting in 1-2-3-4. Introduce a student conductor to cue “start/stop”. Rotate conductors to build confidence.
Use the baton to cue dynamics (soft/loud), tempo changes and to signal transitions.
Step 4: Whole-Class Ensemble (4 mins)
Bring groups together. Each group performs their rhythm in succession, building a layer-by-layer ensemble.
