What is a Half?
A half means one of two equal parts We write it as 1/2 Both parts must be exactly the same size
Think About It
Can you think of things at home that you might split in half? What would happen if the two parts weren't the same size?

Halves in Food
Pizza slices Sandwich halves Orange segments Chocolate bars

Spot the Half
Look at the shapes on the screen Point to the ones that show halves Remember: both parts must be equal!

Equal Parts Rule
Both halves must be the same size Both halves must be the same shape If they're different, they're not halves!
