What is Place Value?
Every digit has a special place Thousands, Hundreds, Tens, Ones The position tells us the value Example: In 3,764 the 3 is worth 3,000!

Think About It!
Look at the number 436 Which two tens is it between? Is it closer to 430 or 440? What about to the nearest hundred?

The Magic Rounding Rules
Look at the digit to the right If it's 5 or more → Round UP If it's 4 or less → Round DOWN The magic number is 5!

Form groups of 4 students Each person represents one digit Teacher calls out a 4-digit number Position yourselves in place value order Then move to show the rounded number!
