Solving Conflicts Respectfully Together
Year 3 & 4 Health Education Learning to resolve conflicts peacefully Lesson 4
WALT (We Are Learning To)
Learn effective conflict resolution strategies Describe at least two methods for resolving conflicts respectfully Practice using respectful communication during disagreements

What is a Conflict?
Think about a time when you disagreed with someone How did it make you feel? What happened next?

Strategy 1: Use 'I' Statements
Say how YOU feel instead of blaming others Example: 'I feel upset when...' instead of 'You always...' This helps others understand your feelings without getting defensive

Strategy 2: Take Turns Listening
Give each person a chance to speak without interrupting Show you're listening with your eyes and body Wait for your turn to share your side Ask questions to understand better

Role-Play Practice Time
Work in pairs or groups of 3 Choose a conflict scenario card Practice using both strategies: I statements and taking turns listening Teacher will visit each group to help

Success Criteria Check
{"left":"Can you name the two conflict resolution strategies?\nCan you give an example of an 'I' statement?","right":"Can you show good listening body language?\nCan you work through a conflict respectfully?"}

Remember: Conflicts Can Be Solved!
Use 'I' statements to share your feelings Take turns listening without interrupting Show respect even when you disagree Ask for help from a teacher if needed
