Lesson Structure

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

• Greet students and introduce the topic: "Today we will explore a 4-beat rhythm inspired by a new song by Sabrina Carpenter released in 2025."
• Briefly explain the 4-beat rhythm concept: "A measure with four beats – the foundation of many pop songs."
• Demonstrate a basic 4-beat rhythm by clapping together on the count of 1-2-3-4.

2. Listening and Analysis (8 minutes)

• Play the chorus segment (16 bars) of "Sue’s New Beat" where the rhythmic pulse is clear.
• Ask students to tap their lap along with the beat focusing on the 4-beat pulse.
• Conduct a guided discussion:

3. Creating 4-Beat Rhythms (12 minutes)

• Challenge each group to create their own 4-beat rhythm, inspired by the rhythm they heard from the song but encouraging creativity.

• Each group performs their 4-beat rhythm pattern for the class, repeating 4 times.
