Teaching Instructions

I want this plan on enterprise education to students working on their career investigation using chromebooks. Students have already asked an entrepreneur questions relating to a career which they are interested in pursuing. They can work in pairs to do this and i will give them some points and key areas to include, showing them past work from students for inspiration

  • Chromebooks (1 per student)
  • Projector and screen for reviewing exemplar work
  • Printed or digital key area and point handout
  • Sample student reports (anonymised) from previous years
  • Timer or clock to keep track of time blocks

Lesson Structure (58 minutes)

1. Starter Activity – 5 minutes

  • Activity: Whole class recalls key insights from their entrepreneur interviews.
  • Teacher Action: Facilitate a brief brainstorming session posing the question, “What skills and experiences stood out to you from your entrepreneur? How do these relate to your own career goals?”
  • Outcome: Re-engage students with their research and prime their thinking for organising information.

2. Introducing the Task – 7 minutes

  • Activity: Teacher projects the handout detailing the key areas required in the report (e.g., entrepreneur background, business description, career skills emphasised, challenges, advice for young entrepreneurs).
  • Teacher Action: Walk students through the handout and show two anonymised exemplar reports on the projector, highlighting effective organisation, language use, and use of digital tools.
  • Outcome: Clarify expectations, establish quality standards, and inspire students.

3. Pair Work – Research Organisation + Drafting – 30 minutes

  • Activity: Students work in pairs on Chromebooks to:
    • Review their interview notes.
    • Plan the structure of their report using the key points.
    • Draft their report in Google Docs/MS Word Online, incorporating relevant information and reflections from their interviews.
  • Teacher Role: Circulate, offering scaffolding and feedback; encourage inclusion of entrepreneurial competencies such as problem-solving, initiative, and adaptability from their career investigations.
  • Outcome: Collaborative, authentic enterprise writing; digital competence; application of investigative skills.

4. Peer Review and Feedback – 10 minutes

  • Outcome: Develop student capacity for reflective critique; reinforce enterprise standards.

5. Whole Class Reflection and Wrap-Up – 6 minutes

    • Challenges faced during the drafting process.
    • How the entrepreneurs’ answers influenced or changed their career perspectives.
    • What entrepreneurial skills they find exciting or applicable to themselves.

    • Peer feedback quality during review session.
  • Success Criteria:
    • Report includes all key areas with relevant and thoughtful content.
    • Clear evidence of entrepreneurial skills and reflections related to career investigation.

Differentiation & Inclusion

  • Provide structured templates or graphic organisers for pairs needing additional support.
  • For higher-ability pairs, suggest inclusion of a brief SWOT analysis of the entrepreneur's career/business.
  • Allow oral presentations as an alternative for students with writing difficulties during peer review.
  • Ensure language and resources are accessible, clarifying terms related to enterprise and entrepreneurship as needed.
