Lesson Structure (45 minutes)

Introduction (10 minutes)

• Stimulus: Play a quick “Clothes Bingo” game using flashcards of summer clothes. Students listen and mark the words they hear.
• Elicit Prior Knowledge: Show pictures of clothes and ask "Cad é seo?" to recall familiar words and phrases.
• WALT:
  • Léifear agus labhraítear faoi chaitheamh earraí samhraidh (We will read and talk about summer clothes).
• WILF:
  • Labhairfidh tú faoi éadaí samhraidh agus rudaí is féidir a cheannach (You will talk about summer clothes and things you can buy).

Development (30 minutes)

• Step 1 – Vocabulary Introduction (10 mins):
  • Teacher displays pictures of summer clothes (t-léine, shorts, hata gréine, bróga, spéaclaí gréine) on IWB.
  • Pronounce each word clearly, children repeat chorally and then individually.
  • Use a simple sentence structure for each: "Seo é an t-léine." (This is the shirt.)
• Step 2 – Active Game: Tógfaidh Mé Éadaí (I Will Take Clothes) (15 mins):
  • Students sit in a circle. Teacher starts by saying: "Tógfaidh mé t-léine." (I will take a shirt) then the next student repeats and adds a new item.
  • This memory chain game practices vocabulary recall and sentence formation.
• Step 3 – Pair Speaking Practice (5 mins):
  • Students get flashcards and ask their partner "An bhfuil… agat?" (Do you have...?) and answer simply "Tá" or "Níl."
  • Teacher monitors and supports with prompts as needed.

Conclusion (5 minutes)

• Recap: Teacher revisits WALT and WILF by asking:
  • "Cad a d'fhoghlaim tú inniu?" (What did you learn today?)
  • Call on several students to say one word or sentence learned.
• Social Interaction: Quick circle talk – "Cad iad do éadaí samhraidh is fearr?" (What are your favourite summer clothes?)
• Transition: Explain what will happen next lesson and how today’s work connects. Praise all for effort and encourage using Gaeilge at home.
