Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students will:

Lesson Outline

Introduction (5 minutes)

• Greeting: Begin the class with a friendly "Bonjour" and engage students with a quick ice-breaker. Ask about their weekend plans using a French phrase: "Quels sont vos projets pour le week-end?"
• Objective Briefing: Outline the day's objectives on the whiteboard. Emphasize the focus on conversation and real-life application.

Warm-up Activity (10 minutes)

• Role Play: Pair up students to act out a simple dialogue. Provide a scenario from a café setting - ordering coffee and pastries.
• Feedback: Allow each pair to present their dialogue. Give feedback on pronunciation and correct use of expressions.

Guided Practice (15 minutes)

• Textbook Exercise: Students will read and practice dialogues from pages 22-24 of Édito A1 2015. Focus on new vocabulary and expressions.
• Listening Task: Play an audio clip that corresponds with the pages being studied. Students will listen and note down key phrases or words they hear.
• Discussion: Facilitate a quick discussion about the dialogue and its context. Ask questions like, "What was the main topic of conversation?" or "How did the characters greet each other?"

Independent Practice (10 minutes)

• Creative Scenario Creation: Ask students to work individually to create a short conversation based on a different scenario (e.g., asking for directions in a foreign city).
• Peer Review: Have students swap their written conversations with a peer for review. Encourage the use of target vocabulary and complex structures.

Wrap-up and Reflection (5 minutes)

• Class Reflection: On a whole-class basis, discuss common challenges faced during the activities. Invite students to share their favourite new phrases.
• Homework Assignment: Ask students to prepare a short speech in French on a topic of their choice to present in the next class.
