Overview

Lesson Outline

Introduction (10 minutes)

1. Spark Interest:

   • Start with a brief discussion about Halloween traditions and stories. Ask students to share their favourite Halloween tale or experience.

2. Introduce the Activity:

   • Explain that they will read a short story called "The Haunted Hollow" and work in pairs to explore the characters, setting, and themes.

Reading Activity (15 minutes)

1. Story Reading:

   • Distribute copies of "The Haunted Hollow."
   • Read the story aloud as a class. Encourage students to follow along in their copies.

2. Comprehension Check:

   • Pause midway for a few comprehension questions:
     • "What do you think will happen next?"
     • "Who is your favourite character so far, and why?"
     • "How does the setting contribute to the spooky atmosphere?"

Group Activity (15 minutes)
