Lesson structure (70 minutes)

  6. 60–67 min · Synthesis discussion. Teacher uses the gallery discussion and synthesis prompts to facilitate a whole-class discussion: “Which map was most useful for a particular question?” “Could the same place be represented differently for different audiences?” and “How might maps influence decisions about settlement, travel, resources, or borders?” Students compare evidence from their worksheets and connect map choices to how people understand and organize places.

  7. 67–70 min · Exit reflection. Teacher asks students to complete the final prompt on the map analysis and gallery walk worksheet: “Maps communicate perspective because…” followed by one specific example from today. Students hand in the worksheet as they leave.
