Overview
This lesson plan is designed for Year 3 students (Curriculum Level 2) in New Zealand to develop entrepreneurial skills by planning, creating, and selling products for a school market day. Lesson Structure
1. Introduction (30 minutes)

- Discuss the story, focusing on what goods and services are, and how people use money to buy what they need and want.

2. Market Planning (60 minutes)
Objective: Plan the products the students will create and sell.
- Activity: Group Formation
- Divide the class into 7 groups of 4 students each.
- Brainstorming:
- Each group brainstorms ideas for products they could make (e.g., bookmarks, bracelets, snacks).
- Use a planning template where they list their product idea, materials needed, and potential costs.
- Guided Planning:
- Introduce a simple planning template that includes sections for product name, materials, steps to create the product, and estimated cost.
- Discuss sustainability and the importance of using recyclable materials.
3. Product Creation (90 minutes)
Objective: Hands-on creation of products.
- Activity: Making Time
- Groups work on creating their products using the materials provided.
- Teachers and teacher aides circulate to assist with cutting, gluing, assembling, etc.

- Each group calculates the cost of their materials and determines a price for their product that will allow them to make a profit.

4. Marketing and Selling (30 minutes)
Objective: Develop skills to promote and sell their products.

- Each group creates a poster or flyer to advertise their product.
- Discuss elements of effective advertisements: clear visuals, attractive design, and persuasive language.
- Role-Playing:
- Practice sales pitches in pairs or small groups.
- Encourage students to think about how they will attract customers and what unique selling points their product has.
5. Reflection and Wrap-up (30 minutes)
Objective: Reflect on the learning experience and plan for market day.
- Activity: Group Presentation
- Each group presents their product, advertisement, and selling strategy to the class.

6. Market Day Setup (15 minutes)
