Lesson structure (45 minutes)

  1. 0–5 minutes – Hook and connect to prior learning Open with the pikelet hook and lesson overview. The teacher supervises stovetops closely; only the designated cook handles the pan, while students rotate roles where safe. Groups aim for consistent portions and record any changes needed.

  7. 42–45 minutes – Plenary and exit response Finish with the success criteria exit ticket slips. Students indicate which criteria they met and write one precise next step, such as “use a smaller measure” or “wait for more bubbles before turning”. Invite two students to share a process decision that improved consistency.
