Lesson structure (60 minutes)

  1. 0–5 min · Hook and prior knowledge. Display a large clock face using the opening clock mystery slide and ask, “What time might it be, and how can you prove it?” Students turn and talk, identify the two hands if they can, and share one time they already know how to read.

  2. 5–12 min · Hours and half-hours. Use the clock-hand teaching slides to model the hour hand and minute hand, then show o’clock times followed by half-past times. Emphasise that at o’clock the minute hand points to 12, while at half past it points to 6; students make the hand positions with their arms and read several examples chorally.

  3. 12–20 min · Guided clock investigation. Give pairs an analogue clock or paper clock and display the guided practice slides.
