Teaching Instructions

I want the lesson to be focused on history - specifically on World War 2 and the Nazi regime in Germany. Some of the things I want to cover in this lesson is what started the war, who instigated the start, and lightly cover some of the countries involved as well as some prominent names such as Mengele, Himmler and Bormann. I also want to give some activities that'll peak interest in this subject

Introduction (5 minutes)

Activity 2: Key Figures (10 minutes)

  • Introduce prominent Nazi figures through short anecdotes:
    • Josef Mengele:
      • Known as the "Angel of Death," was a physician in Auschwitz concentration camp.
    • Heinrich Himmler:
      • Head of SS, instrumental in the execution of the Final Solution.
    • Martin Bormann:
      • Hitler’s private secretary, significant political influence within the Nazi Party.

  • Provide students with index cards and ask them to write down one interesting fact they learned about each figure. Collect and read out a few aloud.

Activity 3: Time Travel Mission (15 minutes)

  • Scenario:
    • "Imagine you are a journalist reporting on the events leading up to World War 2. Write a short report (5-7 sentences) on one of the following topics: the invasion of Poland, the rise of Hitler, or a meeting with one of the prominent figures."
