What is Ki o Rahi?
Traditional Māori ball sport Combines elements of rugby, netball, and touch Played on a circular field called 'Te Roto' Two teams: Kioma and Taniwha Fast-paced, non-contact sport

Key Equipment
Ki (ball) - similar to a rugby ball Pou - central wooden post with targets Tupu - markers for field boundaries Bibs to distinguish teams Cones or markers for zones

Basic Rules - Kioma Team
Defend Te Roto (inner circle) Pass the Ki to teammates Score by hitting targets on the Pou Cannot be tackled in Te Roto Must pass within 3 seconds of catching

Basic Rules - Taniwha Team
Start in Pawero (outer zone) Intercept passes and gain possession Score by placing Ki in Te Roto Can tackle in outer zones only Must work as a team to break through

Practice Activity: Passing Circle
Form circles of 8-10 students Practice quick, accurate passing Call receiver's name before passing Focus on soft hands and quick release Rotate direction every 30 seconds
