A Special Day with My Whānau
One special day with my whānau was a Saturday we all spent together at the park. It was not a holiday, but everyone had time to slow down and be present. My parents, my sibling, and I planned the day in the morning, and I felt excited knowing we would spend quality time together.

Reading Passage Continued
We travelled to a large park close to our home. The park was busy, but it felt calm and welcoming. We chose a shady spot under a tree and set up our picnic. The fresh air and open space made the day feel relaxed and enjoyable. In the middle of the day, we played games and shared food. We kicked a ball, laughed at our mistakes, and cheered each other on.

The Heart of the Story
While we ate, my parents shared kōrero about their own childhoods, which helped me understand more about my whānau and where we come from. Later, we sat together and talked quietly. I listened to the stories and reflected on how important family time is. I felt proud of my whānau and thankful for the moments we shared.

Reflection and Connection
Being together made me feel connected and supported. At the end of the day, we packed up and headed home. I felt tired but content. That day reminded me that spending time with my whānau helps shape who I am and gives me a strong sense of belonging.
