Begin the lesson with a mystery box containing different food items (real or plastic models). Tell the students they will be detectives for the day. As a detective, their first task is to uncover the "Mystery of the Perfect Diet" using clues hidden in the box. Allow students to take turns guessing what each item might be related to their body's needs.

Teaching Strategies

Strategy 1: Game-Based Learning

Activity: "Food Group Relay"

SMART Framework:

  • Specific: Students will categorise food into the correct food groups.

  • Relevant: Focuses on the food groups, linking to dietary needs.
  • Time-bound: 10 minutes for the activity.

Details: Organise the class into small groups. Provide each group with a set of cards featuring different foods. On the teacher's signal, one student from each group runs to the board and places a card under the appropriate food group poster (e.g., fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, and dairy). Discuss each group’s placements afterward to ensure understanding.
