Lesson Structure
1. Introduction and Starter (10 minutes)
- Engage: Begin by asking students what time they usually come to school and what time lessons end. Display both a large analogue clock and a digital clock on the whiteboard.
- Discuss: Introduce key vocabulary: hours, minutes, seconds, quarter past, half past, quarter to. Write these on the board.
- Demonstration: Using the large classroom clock, demonstrate moving hands to show o’clock, half past, quarter past, and quarter to.
- Connect Observations: Show the corresponding digital times on the flashcards (e.g. 3:15 for quarter past three).

2. Whole Class Guided Practice (15 minutes)
- Activity 1: Interactive—Teacher calls out various times, and students hold up mini analogue clocks showing those times. Use times such as 2:00, 2:30, 3:15, 4:45, and random minute-past times.
- Activity 2: On the whiteboard, teacher matches analogue clock faces to digital times. Invite students to come up and write digital times next to analogue images. Ask students to identify whether the time is in the morning or afternoon using 12-hour clock conventions.
- Introduce 24-hour clock: Show how 13:00 means 1pm. Clarify that analogue clocks are typically 12-hour cycles but digital can be 12 or 24 (for later).
