📖 What is a Recount?

A recount is a piece of writing that tells about something that really happened to you. It tells the story in the order it happened and includes your feelings about the experience.

A recount includes:

• Who was there

• What happened

• When it happened

• Where it happened

• How you felt

Example Recount: My Trip to the Beach

Last Saturday, my family and I went to Takapuna Beach. We packed our togs, towels, and a picnic lunch. When we arrived, the sun was shining brightly and the sand felt warm under my feet. I built a huge sandcastle with my little brother while Mum and Dad set up our picnic. Then we all went for a swim in the cool, blue water. I felt so happy and relaxed. It was the best day ever!
