37–42 min · Share and compare. Bring students together and show the compare-and-explain discussion slide. Invite two groups to present different sorting rules. Emphasise that the same shape collection can be sorted in more than one sensible way, provided the rule is clear. Students compare their group’s sort with another group’s sort and identify one similarity or difference.
42–45 min · Exit check. Display the final shape challenge slide showing three familiar shapes. Ask students to choose one shape, name it, and tell a partner one property. Collect the completed shape sorting record sheet as students leave, checking whether each student has named or represented a shape and given a reason for its group.
