Warm Up: Think Pair Share
Think: What does 'community' mean to you? (2 minutes) Pair: Share your ideas with a partner (3 minutes) Share: Pairs share one interesting idea with the class (5 minutes) CEWA Collaborate Strategy: Active listening and respectful sharing

Mini Lesson: What Does It Mean to Contribute?
Contribute = to give or add something valuable to help others Examples of contributions: • Helping a neighbor carry groceries • Participating in school fundraisers • Volunteering at local events • Being kind and respectful to others • Sharing skills or talents with others

Activity: Scenario Sort - Helpful vs Not Helpful
Work in groups of 4-5 students Sort the scenario cards into two categories: • HELPFUL to the community • NOT HELPFUL to the community Example scenarios: Picking up litter, Ignoring someone who needs help, Sharing lunch with a new student, Being rude to shopkeepers

Activity: 5 Whys - Why Do Contributions Matter?
Start with: 'People should contribute to their communities' Ask 'Why?' five times to dig deeper: Why? → Because it helps others Why does helping others matter? → Because... Continue asking 'Why?' until you reach the 5th level CEWA Capability: Critical and Creative Thinking

Reflection: Community Action Pledge
Complete this pledge: 'I commit to contributing to my community by...' Choose ONE specific action you will take in the next week Examples: Help a classmate with homework, pick up rubbish in the playground, say thank you to school staff Write your pledge and be ready to share if comfortable
