📚 Read the passage

There are six tents at the camp. Stanley’s tent is called D Tent. He meets his counsellor, Mr Pendanski, who says he wants to help him.

Stanley meets the other boys who sleep in D Tent. They are sweaty and dirty. Stanley is shown which bed he must sleep in. The boy who slept there before was called Barf Bag. He is now staying in the hospital.

All the boys have nicknames. They are Armpit, Squid, X-Ray, Magnet and Zigzag. However, Mr Pendanski uses their real names: Theodore, Alan, Rex, José and Ricky.

Mr Pendanski says that Zero is called Zero because he thinks there is “nothing inside his head”. The boys call Mr Pendanski “mom”, like mum.
