1.The picnic starts with 53 paper cups. Talia sets out 27. How many cups are still packed?

2.There are 200 grapes in a large container. The group eats 86. How many grapes remain?

3.The picnic budget is $15. Talia spends $7 on napkins. How much money is left?

7.There are 60 minutes before the picnic games begin. The children use 18 minutes to unpack. How many minutes remain?

8.The picnic team collected 402 recyclable bottles. They have sorted 158. How many bottles are still to sort? Show a strategy that handles the zero in 402.

9.Talia says, “For 71 − 34, I can do 71 − 30 = 41, then 41 − 4 = 37.” Is her answer correct? Explain why.

10.Make your own picnic subtraction story using two numbers between 100 and 500. Write the subtraction and solve it. Check your answer by adding.
