Lesson Objectives

Instructional Plan

Introduction (5 minutes)

1. Engage Students: Begin with a quick discussion by asking, “What happens to the food we eat?”
2. Introduce the Lesson Objective: Explain that they will be colouring, labelling, and assembling the digestive organs just like their own body's system.

Activity: Colouring & Labelling Digestive Organs (15 minutes)

1. Display the Organs: Tape the set of laminated digestive organs onto the whiteboard, each labelled with a specific colour.

   • Esophagus (Green)
   • Stomach (Blue)
   • Small Intestine (Yellow)
   • Large Intestine (Red)
   • Liver (Purple)
   • Pancreas (Orange)

2. Guide the Activity:

   • Distribute worksheets and instruct students to colour each organ according to the displayed guide.
   • Encourage students to label each organ as they colour.

3. Support and Observe: Walk around offering guidance where needed, reinforcing clarity in labelling and colouring.

Activity: Tracing and Cutting (10 minutes)

1. Individual to Group Dynamics: Select a volunteer to trace the set of organs onto a large chart paper. Highlight the collaborative nature and teamwork.

2. Cutting and Assembly:

   • After tracing, instruct students to cut out their organs carefully.
   • Provide guidance on how to place and glue their organs onto the outline of a human body on the chart paper. Encourage accuracy in placement, aligning how the digestive system runs in the human body.

Closing Discussion (5 minutes)

1. Review the System: Discuss the role of each organ briefly, reinforcing what was done in the activity.

   • Example: "The stomach is where food gets broken down into smaller pieces."

2. Reflection: Ask students, “What did you find most surprising about the digestive system today?”
