We are beginning a unit 3 novel study for Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese. I want this lesson to be an introduction of Ojibwe culture. First I want to go over the 3 different groups of Indigenous people in Canada, then the Ojibwe people's history, the fire council, clan system. A break to do some matching comprehension check, seven grandfather teachings, land rights, traditional ecological knowledge, watch the ojibwe jingle dress dance and lastly talk about language revitalization. We will end with a bingo game made up of words with their Ojibwe translation
