- Convert between metric units (e.g., cm and m, mL and L).

Ice-Breaker: Measurement Mystery Challenge
Purpose: Get students thinking practically about measurement.

On the board or projector, display a quick 3-question warm-up:
- “Which is longer: 1 metre or 150 centimetres?”
- “If my water bottle holds 750 mL, how many litres is that?”
- “Would you use metres or centimetres to measure your desk?”

Action (45 minutes)
Structure
Students work on completing their measurement-based projects in groups of 3-4.
Each group should have already chosen from these project options in previous lessons:
- Design a Dream Playground – Scale drawing with accurate dimensions using cm and m.
- Build a Tiny Town – Create a cardboard model of a town using accurate scale measurements.
- Kitchen Chemists – Plan a drink recipe for a class party, converting and measuring exact capacities.
- Garden Planners – Design a vegetable garden by choosing and measuring beds with specific dimensions and spacing.
Key Instructions for Today’s Work:
- Groups confirm all measurements.
- Make necessary conversions (e.g., total mL of juice to L).
- Use materials and tools to sketch, calculate, or construct.
- Add final details such as legends, labels, or captions.
Teacher Role:
- Circulate and facilitate, asking probing questions:
- "Why did you choose this unit?"
- "Can you explain how you converted that number?"
- "How would this work in the real world?"
- Use an observation checklist to track:
- Accurate use of measuring tools
- Group cooperation

Consolidation (5 minutes)
Gallery Walk
- Students place projects or planning sheets on desks.
- Half the class stays with their work while the other half rotates, viewing and giving one piece of positive feedback with sticky notes. Then they switch roles.

- “Great labelling – it's easy to understand your thinking!”
