Students should be familiar with the concept of measurement and estimating length from previous lessons in the unit.
Mystery Bag Challenge:
Place 3 sealed cloth bags at the front of the class. Ask:
“Which of these do you think weighs the most?”
“Which one is lightest? Why do you think so?”
Let students pass the bags around and briefly handle them (no peeking inside!)
Emphasise the idea of mass being how “heavy” or “light” something is, rather than just how big it appears.
Introduce the terms grams and kilograms using friendly visuals:
