Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this lesson, students will:

Materials:

• Chromebooks for each student
• Access to AI writing tools (e.g., ChatGPT or a similar tool)
• Access to AI illustration tools (e.g., DALL-E or a similar tool)
• Google Slides or any digital storytelling platform

Lesson Sequence:

Introduction (10 minutes)

• Greeting and Roll Call: Welcome students and take attendance.
• Introduction to Lesson:
  • Explain the purpose: "Today, you will create your own digital storybook using AI tools to help with writing and illustrating."
  • Discuss brief overview of AI: What AI is and how it can assist in creative projects.
  • Highlight New Zealand Curriculum: Emphasize how this aligns with their learning objectives, touching on creativity, critical thinking, and use of digital tools.

Demonstration (10 minutes)

  • Students use the AI illustration tool to create images that complement their story.

  • Guide students to import their text and illustrations into Google Slides.
  • Remind them to focus on layout and visual appeal to create an engaging storybook.
