Lesson Outline

1. Warm-Up (5 minutes)

• Allow the student to share briefly in English

2. Vocabulary Introduction (10 minutes)

Objective:

Learn and pronounce new vocabulary related to work, studying, and travel

Activities:

• Introduce 5 new words each from three categories (work, studying, travel) using flashcards

  • Work: Office, meeting, deadline, colleague, project
  • Studying: Lecture, textbook, exam, homework, professor
  • Travel: Airport, suitcase, tourist, hotel, passport

• Pronounce each word clearly and have the student repeat after you

3. Pronunciation Practice (10 minutes)

Objective:

Improve pronunciation of new vocabulary

Activities:

• Practice pronunciation drills with the student.

  • Example sentences: "My office is near the airport." "I have an exam next week."

• Focus on common sounds that may be difficult for A2 learners, such as "th" in "meeting" and "suitcase."

4. Speaking Activity (10 minutes)

Objective:

Encourage spontaneous speaking within a safe context

Activities:

• Role Play Scenario: Pretend you are at work, studying at a university, and travelling.
  • Work: "Excuse me, where is the meeting room?" Student responds.
  • Studying: "Could you help me with my homework?" Student responds.
  • Travel: "Can you show me the way to the hotel?" Student responds.

5. Listening Activity (10 minutes)

Objective:

Develop listening comprehension skills

Activities:

• Play a short dialogue or conversation related to the topics of work, studying, or travel.

  • For example, a conversation between colleagues planning a project, a student asking about homework, or a tourist asking for directions at an airport.

• Provide a worksheet with 5 multiple-choice questions based on the audio.

  • Example questions: "What was the tourist looking for?"

6. Cool Down and Review (5 minutes)

Objective:

Ensure understanding and retention of the lesson's activities

Activities:

• Review key points using the whiteboard
• Ask the student to form one sentence each using the new vocabulary words
• Provide feedback and correct any mistakes gently

Assessment

• Formative: Observe student participation and responses during activities
• Summative: Evaluate the completed worksheet answers and pronunciation improvements

Homework

• Ask the student to write a short paragraph (5–7 sentences) using at least five of the new vocabulary words learned today.
