  • 1 kilogram = 1,000 grams.
  • 1 litre = 1,000 millilitres.

Use the Units Conversion Ladder as a reference display or hand one copy to each pair. Model both directions, for example, 3 kg = 3,000 g and 2,000 mL = 2 L. Emphasise that converting to a smaller unit usually gives a larger number.

  1. 19–26 minutes – Paired practice
