Introduction to AI Platforms

Context and Purpose

This is the first lesson in the year 8 unit "Exploring AI in Education". The aim is to introduce students to the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) and its growing relevance in education. Students will also be given an overview of the AI platforms they will explore during the unit, establishing context and learning goals aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum Technology learning area.

Introducing AI

Describe roadmap of 16 lessons — introducing AI tools, practical activities, and reflections about responsible use.

Reflection and Exit Ticket

Each student writes one new thing they learned about AI and one question they have.
Helps the teacher gauge understanding and inform next lesson preparation.
