Lesson structure (45 minutes)

  1. 0–6 minutes – Move and turn

  1. 14–18 minutes – Quick check: show me

Use the show-me check slides to reveal one angle at a time. Students respond with hand signals, mini whiteboards or fingers: 1 for acute, 2 for right, 3 for obtuse, 4 for straight and 5 for reflex. Ask selected students to justify one answer using a benchmark turn. Correct the common misconception that a reflex angle is the smaller angle shown between two rays.

  1. 18–31 minutes – Group angle sort

Place students in groups of four, with roles such as reader, sorter, checker and reporter.   1. 39–45 minutes – Plenary and exit check

Return to the comparison and plenary slides. Show three angles and ask students to order them, then defend their order without using a protractor.
