What is a Life Cycle?
A life cycle shows how animals grow and change All animals start small and grow bigger They go through different stages Each stage looks different
Mammal Life Cycle: Dogs
Mammals give birth to live babies Puppy → Young dog → Adult dog Babies drink milk from their mother They look like their parents from birth
Bird Life Cycle: Chickens
Birds start life as eggs Egg → Chick → Young bird → Adult bird Baby birds hatch from their shells They grow feathers as they get older
Insect Life Cycle: Butterflies
Insects have amazing changes called metamorphosis Egg → Caterpillar → Chrysalis → Butterfly Each stage looks completely different! The caterpillar changes into a beautiful butterfly
Life Cycle Sorting Challenge
Work in groups of 4-5 students Sort the picture cards into correct life cycle order Try all three animal types: mammals, birds, and insects Explain your thinking to your group
Comparing Life Cycles
{"left":"Mammals: Born live, drink milk, look like parents\nBirds: Hatch from eggs, grow feathers, learn to fly","right":"Insects: Complete metamorphosis, totally change shape\nAll animals: Start small, grow bigger, become adults"}
