What Are Literacy Rotations?
Small group learning stations Students rotate every 15-20 minutes Independent and guided practice Builds reading and writing skills Allows teacher to work with small groups

Our Learning Focus
WALT: We Are Learning To work independently at literacy stations to improve our reading and writing skills

Station 1: Work on Writing
WALT: Write sentences using finger spaces and full stops Success Criteria: I can write 3 sentences about my topic, I can use finger spaces between words, I can use a full stop at the end Extension: Add describing words (adjectives) to make sentences more interesting

Station 2: Word Work
WALT: Build and read words using letter sounds Success Criteria: I can make 5 words using letter tiles, I can read the words I make, I can sort words by their ending sounds Extension: Create rhyming words or add prefixes/suffixes

Station 3: Read to Self
WALT: Read independently for 15 minutes Success Criteria: I can choose a 'just right' book, I can read quietly without disturbing others, I can retell what happened in my book Extension: Write or draw about your favorite part of the story

Station 4: Read to Someone
WALT: Read with a partner and take turns Success Criteria: I can take turns reading pages, I can listen when my partner reads, I can ask questions about the story Extension: Act out part of the story together or discuss your favorite characters

Station 5: iPad Learning
WALT: Use reading and writing apps to practice our skills Success Criteria: I can navigate the app independently, I can complete 2 activities, I can use headphones appropriately Extension: Try the challenge level or help a friend with their activity
