Counting on

Begin with the larger addend, then count on by the smaller addend.

Split one addend so that part of it fills the other addend up to 10.

7.A ten-frame has 10 spaces. If 8 spaces are filled, how many more counters are needed to fill it? Use that fact to solve 8 + 5.
