Lesson Sequence

Engage (5 minutes)

1. Introduction to Daily Routines:
   Begin with a brief discussion on daily routines, asking questions such as: "What are some things you do every morning before school?"

   • Purpose: To activate prior knowledge and engage the students in thinking about daily activities.

2. Visual Aid Display:
   Show illustrations depicting various daily routines. Invite students to make guesses about what each picture is describing.

Explore (12 minutes)

1. Reading Activity:
   Distribute the text excerpts describing different daily routines to each student.

   • Task: Each student reads the text silently and identifies specific clues in the text that help them understand the routine.

2. Context Clues Discussion:
   Once students have finished reading, lead a discussion on the types of context clues found, such as keywords, familiar phrases, and any visuals that accompanied the text.

   Highlight important text features such as bullet points, headings, and numbered steps that help readers understand the sequence and detail of routines.

   Pair students up to read each other's passages and suggest improvements or highlight effective use of context clues.

Evaluate (3 minutes)

1. Reflection and Feedback:
   Distribute a brief reflection sheet with prompts such as "One new thing I learned today" or "A context clue that helped me today was..."
