Lesson Breakdown

1. Starter Activity (10 minutes) – Think, Pair, Share

• Teacher’s Role: Pose a question: "What makes a successful entrepreneur?"

  • 2 min: Discuss with a partner
  • 2 min: Share with the class (teacher records ideas on board)

2. Main Task (20 minutes) – Business Escape Room

• Challenges (Examples):
  1. Anagram Puzzle: Unscramble key business vocabulary.
  2. Profit Calculation: Solve a profit/loss calculation.
  3. Risk Vs. Reward Matching: Match risks and rewards to real-life business decisions.
  4. Famous Entrepreneurs Riddle: Identify successful entrepreneurs from clues.
• Resources: Lockable box with a final puzzle (first team to solve "escapes" first).
• Formative Assessment:
  • Observation of teamwork and verbal reasoning during challenges.
  • Use of mini-whiteboards for quick checks.
• Inclusive Pedagogy:
  • Teamwork allows for different strengths (numeracy, literacy, problem-solving).

3. Plenary (15 minutes) – Business Crossword
