Lesson Outline

Introduction (5 minutes)

• Discussion: Ask students about different materials they can find at home, fostering awareness of everyday items being used artistically.

Main Activity (35 minutes)

Step 1: Exploring Materials (10 minutes)

• Demonstration: Show a few materials laid out on a table and discuss their textures, colours, and how they might fit into a collage.
• Hands-On Exploration: Allow students to touch and feel the different materials. Encourage them to consider how the textures might appear when used together.

Step 2: Designing (5 minutes)

• Creative Planning: Hand out a sheet of A4 white paper to each student and instruct them to sketch a simple design or scene with a pencil or marker as a base for their collage.

Step 3: Creating the Collage (20 minutes)

• Building the Collage: Students will use the materials provided to decorate their drawing. Encourage them to cut, tear, and layer these materials creatively. Remind them to consider colour balance and texture.
• Glue and Arrange: Students will glue their chosen pieces onto their base drawing, keeping creativity in mind with how they layer and place different textures.

Conclusion and Clean-Up (5 minutes)
