Overview
This 60-minute session is the eighth in the "Exploring the Wonders of Science" unit, designed for Year 11 students (15-16 years) following the National Curriculum for England. In this lesson, learners will independently carry out controlled experiments they previously designed, focusing on skill development in scientific enquiry, data collection, and analysis.

Lesson Structure
1. Starter (10 minutes)
- Recap and Set the Stage
- Brief whole-class review of key concepts: independent, dependent and control variables.
- Recall essentials from previous planning lessons to prompt confidence.
- Teacher demonstrates a brief example mini-experiment highlighting control variables and accurate data recording.
- Discuss the importance of replicability and precision in science.
Success Criteria: Students can verbally identify variables and explain why control is important.
2. Main Activity – Conducting Experiments (40 minutes)
Success Criteria: Controlled variables are maintained; data logged thoroughly and accurately; all health and safety procedures observed.
