Lesson Structure

Introduction (5 minutes)

1. Greeting and Settling Down: Welcome students and ensure they are seated quietly.
2. Objective Introduction: Explain that the goal of today's lesson is to create an exciting short story. Highlight that this will include writing and sharing their stories with peers.
3. Hook Activity: Show a few colourful images (like a dragon, a haunted house, a magical forest) and briefly describe one story idea for each. This is to spark students' imagination and get them excited.

Main Activity (25 minutes)

1. Story Prompts Distribution (5 minutes):

   • Divide the class into pairs.
   • Distribute a story prompt (an image) to each pair.

2. Brainstorming (10 minutes):

   • Allow pairs to discuss their image and come up with a basic plot for their story.
   • Prompt questions on the board: Who are the characters? What is the setting? What problem do they face? How do they solve it?

3. Writing Time (10 minutes):

   • Direct pairs to start writing their stories, reminding them to use descriptive language.
   • Circulate around the room to provide support and encouragement.

Sharing and Reflection (10 minutes)

1. Story Sharing (5 minutes):

   • Invite a few pairs to share their stories with the class.
   • Encourage students to listen attentively and appreciate each other's creativity.

2. Reflection (5 minutes):

   • Ask students to reflect on the activity.
   • Questions to guide reflection: What did you enjoy about creating your story? What was challenging? Would you like to continue developing your story?

Closing (5 minutes)

1. Positive Reinforcement: Praise students for their creativity and effort.
2. Homework Assignment: Ask students to illustrate a scene from their story and bring it in for the next class.
3. Final Words: Thank students for their participation and share enthusiasm for the next lesson.
