Teaching Instructions

Plan a lesson which is fun and engaging for a group of students of mixed age in a special school working at approx Y4 levels. I have not met these students before but do not want to do zll aboht me activities Include some whole class discussion, some differentiated writing and a short quiz or game to finish. Provide printable resources for the writing and quiz/game

    2. A talking animal in the forest
    3. A secret message found on the playground
  • Ask students in small groups (3 groups of 4) to discuss what might happen next.
  • Each group shares one exciting idea aloud.
  • Teacher models how to describe one idea with simple adjectives and connectives.

Differentiation:

  • Support from TA for students who find speaking or listening challenging by encouraging one-word or phrase responses initially.
  • Prompt cards with pictures and simple vocabulary to scaffold discussion.

2. Individual Differentiated Writing Task (20 minutes)

4. Secure Exit Routine – Story Quiz Game (8 minutes)

  • Show 6 quick clues or pictures from the story starters and additional ideas (dyslexia-friendly slide or printed cards).
  • Students write or select the matching story starter or predict what happens next from multiple-choice options, differentiated:
