Students will finalise their scripts and performance techniques for their scenes, preparing for the upcoming class presentation. This lesson aims to enhance their understanding of characterisation, delivery, and stage presence by integrating feedback and applying learned techniques.

Lesson Breakdown

1. Introduction (10 Minutes)

• Warm-up Activity:
  • Begin with a quick physical and vocal warm-up to energise students. Include simple stretches followed by articulation exercises (e.g. tongue twisters).
• Review Objectives:
  • Clarify that the focus is on finalising scenes, responding to feedback, and polishing performances.

2. Group Division (5 Minutes)

• Student Grouping:
  • Break students into their performance groups of 3-4.
  • Recognise the 7 focus students and assign a mentor (a more experienced student or teacher aide) to each.

3. Feedback Integration (20 Minutes)

• Peer Feedback Session:
  • Groups discuss feedback received during previous rehearsals.
  • Focus on key performance aspects: characterisation, projection, physicality, and emotional connection.
• Support for Focus Students:
  • Provide tailored feedback sessions with mentors, focusing on specific areas for improvement.

4. Final Polishing (15 Minutes)

• Rehearsal Time:
  • Each group conducts a final rehearsal, utilising props, costumes, and stage space.
  • Encourage groups to implement performance techniques such as dynamic staging, emotion cues, and ensemble work.

5. Performance Skills Review (5 Minutes)

• Quick Review:
  • Gather students and discuss key performance skills to remember: confidence, clarity, connection, and energy.
  • Use the whiteboard to list important reminders.

6. Reflection (5 Minutes)

• Exit Ticket:
  • Have each student write down one thing they’ve improved during this lesson and one aspect they wish to focus on for the performance.
  • This can be an anonymous collection for the teacher to review later.

Assessment

• Formative Assessment:
  • Observe group interactions and individual contributions during rehearsals.
  • Monitor the implementation of feedback and performance techniques.

Homework (Optional)

• Students can either refine their scripts further or practise their lines at home, focusing on delivering their character’s emotional journey convincingly.
