Hook Activity (5 minutes)

Begin the lesson with a short video clip illustrating the vast web of global communication networks (such as a time-lapse of internet cable maps or satellite imagery). Ask students to think about and write down one thing they often do online that requires a network connection.

Teaching Input (10 minutes)

Present a clear and concise explanation of computer networks using a PowerPoint. Discuss the concepts of nodes, connectivity, LANs, and WANs. Highlight real-world examples, such as how schools, businesses, and homes use networks.

Watch Me Task (5 minutes)

Conduct a live demonstration of setting up a small, simple network using a few devices (e.g., two computers and a router). Show how devices are connected and communicate with each other.

Help Me Task (10 minutes)

Distribute a worksheet with various real-life scenarios where networks are used. Ask students to identify and list advantages and disadvantages within each scenario. Move around the classroom to provide individual assistance and answer questions.

Show Me Task (5 minutes)

Ask students to pair up and discuss their findings from the "Help Me" task. Encourage them to share insights and misconceptions with their partner. Select a few pairs to present their findings to the class.
