0:10–0:45 — Rapid Card Sort (Hands-On)

• Divide the class into 3 groups of 5 students (or pairs if smaller).
• Each group receives 15 word cards.
• Using a stopwatch, groups have 20 seconds to separate the nouns from the verbs as quickly as possible.
• Include a "wildcard" card with a word that could be used as either noun or verb to challenge understanding (e.g., "play").
• After 20 seconds, groups quickly construct one sentence aloud using one noun and one verb from their piles.
• Teacher writes the sentences on the board, highlighting the nouns and verbs and discussing the wildcard word briefly.
