📚 Part 1: Recognise & Choose

WALT: Understand and use present and past tense verbs correctly.

Success Criteria: I can identify verbs in present and past tense and choose the correct past form. I can hear the three /ed/ sounds: /t/, /d/, /ɪd/.

1. Choose the correct past tense for the verb in the sentence: I play with my dog.

Reminder: Say the verb aloud to hear the /ed/ ending before you write.

Differentiation: Level 1 - use a word bank or picture supports; Level 2 - change the tense independently; Level 3 - include irregular verbs and write a mixed-tense sentence.

5. Rewrite the sentence in past tense: I jump on the trampoline.

6. Rewrite the sentence in present tense: Yesterday, Tom wanted an ice-cream.

7. Write one sentence that uses both a present tense verb and a past tense verb correctly (for example: "I play, then I played").

8. Sound check: Which /ed/ sound do you hear in the past word jumped?
