Maya loved her grandmother's backyard. Behind the old shed, hidden by tall sunflowers, was a small patch of earth. One sunny Saturday, Maya decided to make it special.

"What are you doing?" called her friend Sam from the fence.

"Come and see!" Maya said, wiping dirt from her hands. "I'm starting a secret garden club. Want to join?"

Sam climbed over the fence. "What will we grow?"

"Vegetables for the food bank," Maya said. "My grandmother has seeds for carrots, lettuce, and tomatoes. We can plant them now!"

Every afternoon, Sam and Maya watered their plants and pulled out weeds. Maya's grandmother taught them about helpful insects.

By December, they had two baskets of fresh vegetables. When they took them to the community center, Mrs. Chen was amazed.

"This is wonderful! Where did these come from?" she asked.
