Worked example

The greatest common factor is 🟦 6.
Divide each term by 6: 6x ÷ 6 = x and 12 ÷ 6 = 2.
So, 6x + 12 = 6(x + 2).
Check by expanding: 6(x + 2) = 6x + 12 ✓
