Persuasive Writing Conclusions

A persuasive conclusion brings your argument to a close. It can restate your opinion, remind readers of your strongest reasons and finish with a thought that stays with them.

Spot the purpose

Think about what a conclusion should do for the reader.

Plan and write an ending

Use the opinion and reasons below to practise shaping a conclusion. Opinion: The sailing club should lend life jackets to members who need one. Reasons: life jackets help keep sailors safe; lending them makes sailing easier for families who are new to the club.

9.Plan a conclusion for the life-jacket opinion. Write the opinion again in your own words, note one or both reasons, and jot down a final thought for the reader.
